Summer Reading

Along with Summer fun, comes Summer reading.  Sometimes we just want a lovely read, something entertaining or well written or the newest bestseller.  But how about adding a title on yoga?  Its a wonderful way to add depth to your practice.

So whether you're new to yoga or old friends with the practice, it is always insightful to sit down and explore the ancient wisdom of Yoga and meditation practices.  Below are my favorite yoga reads, all of which are in my permanent library for a future read or reference.  If the spirit moves you, check them out the next time you visit your local library or bookstore.

(All titles recommended are done so out of the goodness of my heart.  I am in no way affiliated with the authors or publishing companies.)

Living Your Yoga: Finding the Spiritual in Everyday Life by Judith Lasater, PhD., P.T.

The Wisdom of Yoga: A Seeker's Guide to Extraordinary Living by Stephen Cope

Yoga and the Quest for True Self by Stephen Cope

When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times by Pema Chodron

Light on Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar

The Bhagavadgita, any translation

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, any translation

Anything by Thich Nhat Hahn

The Heart of Yoga: Developing a Personal Practice by T. K. V. Desikachar

And if you happen to be looking for something a bit lighter, my two favorite periodicals are Yoga Journal (a monthly magazine) and Shambala Sun (a bi-monthly magazine), both of which are available at bookstores.

Tell me, what books have you read that have made a big impact on your practice?

Namaste and happy reading!!!
