As the activity and adventure of Summer come to a close, the arrival of routines, work, school, and other necessities draw us back to reality. It also becomes apparent where you have moved away from your journey toward health and wellness.
As you direct your attention toward work, family, home, and community, make sure to schedule time for yourself, time for something that replenishes your spirit, de-stresses your body and mind, and draws you back to your center, every day. Yes, every day. Even if its only 10 minutes, make time for yourself. If you don't, no one else will.
I understand this is a challenge. It has always been for me, as the mother of two young children, teaching yoga, caring for a home and family, I get it. But I also know when I make time for myself, I am more at ease, handle stresses better, and can care for those around me with a deeper loving attention.
Here are a few suggestions, none of which require money or time at a spa.
Sip tea, quietly. No cell, no computer, no work.
Practice yoga, even just a few poses helps.
Read from an inspiring book.
Take a walk, with no destination.
Enjoy a warm bath.
Paint, write, create, without any focus on the final outcome.
How do you plan to make time for yourself and your well-being?
Be well. Namaste.
