Yoga & Your Best Self

"The practice of Yoga draws you back to your best Self."  Dianne Featherstone

In a trans-formative yoga class I attended last week, the instructor said the words above.  These words have stuck with me nearly a week later.  My inner light grew that day, as the truth of these words entered my heart on the deepest level.  

But isn't it true?  The physical practice of yoga draws us deeper into our Self (yes, with a capital S, aka: the ego-less Self).  We become so much more aware of our truth, our passion, our kindness, and how we connect with the whole of existence.  Sometimes we only get a glimpse, a sweet taste of this realization.  For me it often appeared during final shavasana.  But as we learn to draw the senses inward, known in sanskrit as Pratyahara, we can come back to this realization over and over again.   

So on this beautiful day, find your way to your favorite gentle yoga posture.  Take a moment to draw your senses away from the external.  Feel the sensations in your body, without judgement.  Feel the sensations in your breath.  And also in the mind.  Then let it all slip away.  Rest in the present moment and follow your breath.  Come back to your best Self.

Self-help is the best help and regular practice of Yoga makes sure it properly! I was an attentive learner of Yoga since few months but after joining in the job I can't keep the same flaw but I'm blessed that I've got the benefits of it. I'm thinking for a new start of this most effective exercise shortly. Thank you very much Linda for an inspirational post.

It doesn't only draws to yourself but also provides broad dynamic understanding of things beyond and able to achieve self stability.
